Inspiration: Honouring past and modern-day researchers who document and protect our fossils, fauna, and flora.
Inspired by the fascinating Cistecephalus fossil, this cushion celebrates the remarkable creatures that once roamed southern Africa. This image shows a Cistecephalus skull impression preserved in a block of siltstone, discovered on the farm Glen Again in the Graaff-Reinet area. With its distinctive, boxy head and burrowing habits, the Cistecephalus—pronounced “Sista-sef-a-liss”—embodies resilience and adaptation, qualities captured in the textures and patterns of this design. A tribute to the natural history of the Karoo and the extraordinary life it has nurtured.
