Inspiration: We honour the grasslands of Southern Africa. This humble plant family is easily overlooked, as Alan Paton describes in his book Cry, Our Beloved Country (1948). “The grass is rich and matted; you can’t see the soil. It holds the rain and the mist, and they seep into the ground, feeding the streams in every kloof.” “Stand upon it, for the ground is holy, being even as it came from the Creator. Keep it, guard it, care for it, for it keeps men, guards men, cares for men. Destroy it, and man is destroyed.” We therefore have to protect and promote the importance of this precious resource.

Lead Times
Please allow up to 2 weeks if your chosen cushion is in stock or needs to be dyed, and 6–10 weeks if it is out of stock.
Hand Dyed
Embroidered cushions are hand-dyed to order in your chosen colour.
Each cushion cover is dyed in small batches every Tuesday and Friday for the perfect result.

Made locally from 100% linen, each cushion cover is designed to tell its own story — as a bold standalone piece or layered within a considered collection. Printed designs use pigment printing for crisp, lasting colour, while embroidered pieces are hand-dyed with non-toxic dyes for a softer, more textured finish.

Every piece is proudly made in South Africa. We work with some of the country's oldest embroidery factories, and select pieces are hand finished in our Johannesburg studio - keeping craft, quality, and local production at the heart of everything we make.
