TORTOISE STONE
Inspiration - The Leopard Tortoise, one of Africa’s “Small Five,” inspired this design through its remarkable shell. Each scute records the passing of seasons like rings in a tree, a symbol of patience, resilience, and the quiet poetry of nature’s design.
Design - The pattern draws from the geometry and subtle symmetry of the tortoise’s plastron, the base of the male's shell, whose gentle concave form informs the design. Earthy neutrals and natural gradients echo the Karoo landscape, grounded, steady, and quietly alive.
